In the fourth part of Bach in Context - the special cooperation between Musica Amphion and the Gesualdo Consort Amsterdam - the Lord's Prayer is the central point. The prayer holds in the Christian - and thus also in the Lutherian - tradition a central position. The song Vater unser im Himmelreich is a rhymed version of Our Father by Martin Luther. Praying is begging, crying, thanking, being jubilant, being quiet...
It rarely happens that a composer gives voice to the prayer like Bach did in these works.
